Fitness has not only been a
passion and way of life for me, but a priority and necessity for both my
physical and mental (and all that entails) well-being. Being active has helped
me to deal with every situation I have ever encountered in my life. It is my
“go to” method of life. All the residual benefits, feeling good and having a
high level of energy in addition to gaining the confidence to try new things, are
just a few of the so many to mention.
To be in a position to introduce that to others just made sense to me. I wanted to share the feeling, the experience, and the knowledge of well-being with others. So I became trained and certified to teach, so that I could share my passion. Fitness is not just a hobby, but a way of life; a way of life, to make a living.
I am insured and I have been aerobically certified by AFAA, ACE, NDEITA, NETA, YMCA, and Silver Sneakers over the last 25+ years. I have taught various styles of aerobics and weight training. Personal training and group fitness for all ages and abilities have also been part of my experience.
I have always paid special attention to posture, technique, breathing and alignment all of which, naturally, lead me to introduce my personal yoga practice to my clientele. It was met with great enthusiasm and my certification to teach was a result. I was trained and certified by Elin Larsen (LINK: Yogawithelin.us) through the Hatha style of Yoga guru Ruth Bender, a long standing, respected pioneer of yoga in the Farmington Valley. Continued personal practice, workshops and training continue to compliment my fitness and yoga learning, training and teaching.
My classes are conducted in a casual, practical, light and fun atmosphere. Laughing, after all, is a form of breathing and smiling is a great facial stretch!
